Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa weather update; heavy rains expected

PESHAWAR – Scattered rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls are expected in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday evening/night, Saturday and Sunday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea penetrate the upper/central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave affects the upper parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, scattered rains and gusty winds are expected in Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Battagram, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Swabi, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Waziristan and Kurram on Friday evening/night and the next two days. Heavy falls may also occur at isolated places in lower districts during the period.

Peshawar’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 34-36°C on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, scattered rains occurred in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours. Hot and humid weather prevailed elsewhere in the province.

Peshawar remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 63 per cent.

Maximum temperature in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan was recorded at 39°C.
