Lahore, Punjab weather update; intermittent rains expected

LAHORE – Intermittent rains and gusty winds are expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper/central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave will likely affect the upper parts of the country from tonight.

Under these weather conditions, intermittent rains and gusty winds are expected in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sathe the hiwal, Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Vehari, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Khanpur, Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan on Thursday night and the next two days. Hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the province.

Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 36-38°C on Friday and 35-37°C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred at isolated places in the province.

Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan remained the hottest places in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 41°C.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 50 per cent.
