Weather outlook of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; rains, gusty winds likely

PESHAWAR – Rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls are likely in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday night and Friday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper/central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave will likely affect the upper parts of the country from tonight.

Under these conditions, rains and gusty winds are likely in Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Battagram, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Swabi, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Waziristan and Kurram on Thursday night and Friday. Isolated heavy falls may also occur during the period.

Peshawar’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 34-36°C on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours. However, rain winds/thundershowers occurred at isolated places in the province during the last 24 hours.

Peshawar remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 40 per cent. Maximum temperature in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan was recorded at 39°C.
