Mobile phone prices hit record high after 18% GST

Following the imposition of an 18% GST in the federal budget for 2024-25, mobile phone prices have surged to unprecedented levels, causing widespread concern among consumers.

This drastic rise in prices is expected to heavily impact consumers and the mobile phone market.

The most significant and alarming increase is seen in phones priced at Rs 200,000, which are now shockingly Rs 36,000 more expensive.

As per the channel report, those costing Rs150,000 have not been spared either, with prices soaring by Rs 19,000.

The channel reported that phones valued at Rs100,000 have experienced a massive price jump of Rs18,000.

Similarly, phones priced at Rs50,000 have seen a staggering hike of Rs9,000.

The channel reported that a mobile phone that previously cost Rs25,000 has now increased by Rs4,000, making it unaffordable for many.—Agencies
