Aperson laced with extraordinary administrative and leader ship skills plus innovative ideas always makes his presence felt, no matter what responsibility is entrusted to him. The same is being witnessed these days in Capital Development Authority (CDA) which remained dormant for quite some time but ever since taking over of the charge by Amir Ali Ahmed as Chairman CDA, the civic agency has suddenly come to life making serious strides to live up to the expectations of the residents of the capital. The way Amir Ali Ahmed is trying to transform the CDA is really appreciable. The same was very much expected from him as nobody understands the landscape and problems of the capital better than him as he has also served as the Additional Deputy Commissioner and the Commissioner of the capital. He is a person well known for sorting out and disposing tricky matters without wastage of time. It is really heartening to see his focus on the development projects and most recently one saw him coming up with the novel idea of developing a new blue area which in fact will go a long way in promoting economic activities in the capital. Then most importantly, the other day, the launch of ICT app by Prime Minister Imran Khan, also showed his commitment to use the information technology to facilitate the residents of Islamabad by all possible means. Under this app, forty three civic services ranging from e-policing to acquiring of domiciles will be provided to the people at their doorsteps, thus saving them from the inconvenience of long queues and long waits outside public sector departments. The CDA has also shown the readiness to confront the challenge posed by Corona Virus as the civic agency with the cooperation of ICT Administration and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad has also started chemical spraying and washing of hospitals, business centres and major roads of the city. Whilst we are confident that Amir Ahmed will continue to work with the same pace and passion to bring ease to the people of capital, merit based appointments also need to be ensured in the civic agencies of other cities to take them also on the path of rapid development.
