KARACHI – Several passengers were injured in stamped after a bus of People’s Pink Bus Service caught fire in southern port city of Karachi.
The fire erupted in the pink bus, which operates on Route No 1, near the PAF Base Faisal at a time when the vehicle was filled with passengers.
Reports said that the blaze started in the blower of the bus in the back side. It was extinguished by the staff of the Peoples Red Bus, when they passing from the same place.
The blaze caused panic among women passengers and led to stamped as they were rushing to step out of the bus to save their lives. Several women suffered injuries after they fell on the ground during the stamped, however, no loss of life was reported in the incident.
In November last year, one person was killed and five others sustained injuries when a pink bus hit a rikshaw in Karachi. The accident was reported from North Karachi Saleem Center where a pink bus – the first women-only bus service in Pakistan’s Sindh province – hit a three-wheeler rickshaw. The police officials reported that one out of six injured rickshaw passengers, named Danish, lost his life in the tragic accident.
