ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) could not coexist with Pakistan’s economy, and that they aimed to abolish NAB.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that when the PPP supported the government, a memorandum was agreed upon which required the government to prepare the budget and PSDP in collaboration with them, but this was not implemented.

“It would have been better if the budget had been prepared in collaboration,”  said the PPP chairman while speaking on the floor of the National Assembly on Tuesday (today).

Bilawal mentioned that the government should have consulted the opposition on the budget, which would have had a positive impact. Shehbaz Sharif had spoken about the Charter of Economy; Pakistan’s long-term issue will not be resolved without it.

“This charter will have to be formulated with everyone’s consultation; it will not be dictated from anywhere. We need to send a message to the world that Pakistan has formulated a 20-year plan for its economy,” said Bilawal.

He said that sending each other to jail is not necessary for advancing politics, but the PTI government was targeting the opposition in the name of accountability, 18th Amendment, IMF awards, and ending the Benazir Income Support Program.

Bilawal Bhutto further said that he thanked the government for the 27% increase in the Benazir Income Support Program. This project should be given constitutional protection because the political statement of concern is not the problem of the people of this country, but rising inflation and poverty.

Deciding to impose an 18% tax on milk will not be a decision of any politician but of aged people. The government has been successful in significantly reducing inflation so far, the decision of the caretaker government caused damage to the farmers, and it was necessary to bring a policy to eliminate farmers, he added.
