Sindh Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) and the Rotary Club of Karachi New Central signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the historic Flag Staff House. The ceremony, aimed at reaffirming their commitment to enhancing tourism, was attended by prominent figures including the Minister of Culture and Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah. Special guests at the event included assembly members Malik Sikandar Khan, Makhdoom Fakhar Zaman, and Barrister Halal Wasan.
The event also saw the participation of Rotary members, government officials, media representatives, and university delegates. The MoU was signed by STDC Managing Director Syed Fayaz Shah and President of Rotary Club Karachi Shehnaz Ramzi. During the ceremony, Minister Zulfiqar Ali Shah praised the Rotary Club’s efforts to support tourism development.
He highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating, “Today marks the beginning of a long and healthy relationship between Rotary members and STDC.” Minister Zulfiqar Ali Shah also assured his full support for cultural and tourism development programs. He emphasized recent initiatives by the Ministry of Tourism, such as the Desert Train Safari from Karachi to Khokhrapar, the Desert Jeep Safari, and development projects on Gorakh Hill under public-private partnerships.
Ensuring the safety and security of tourists remains a top priority, he noted, adding that medical facilities will soon be available at tourist sites. President of Rotary Club Karachi, Shehnaz Ramzi, expressed her club’s commitment to aiding STDC’s tourism promotion efforts. “Our club will organize field trips for students from various schools associated with Rotary Clubs,” she said.
The club aims to encourage schools to incorporate information about the country’s history, geography, and culture into their curricula. Ramzi also highlighted the club’s dedication to raising awareness about environmental conservation and wildlife protection. STDC Managing Director Syed Fayaz Shah assured full cooperation with Rotary’s plans and initiatives. Participants of the event also toured the museum and the historic Flag House, adding a touch of heritage appreciation to the occasion.
