KARACHI  –  The 8th death anniversary of legendary Qawwal and Naat Khawan Amjad Sabri is being observed today.

Sabri’s most famous kalaam ‘Tajdar-e-Haram’ and ‘Bhar Do Jholi’ are still in the hearts of his fans.

He was awarded Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his meritorious services in the field of sufi music.

On June 22, 2016, which coincided with the 16th of Ramadan, renowned qawwali singer Sabri was fatally shot. The attack occurred at approximately 4 PM near his home in Karachi’s Liaquatabad when unidentified gunmen opened fire. Sabri suffered multiple head injuries and succumbed to his wounds at the scene.

At 45, Sabri was a highly esteemed figure in Pakistan’s music industry and one of South Asia’s leading qawwali performers.

He continued the rich musical tradition of his father, Ghulam Farid Sabri, and his uncle, Maqbool Ahmed Sabri.

After the passing of Ghulam, Amjad Sabri emerged as a leading qawwali artist in Pakistan, gaining widespread recognition through his appearances on national television and radio.
