Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has convened a Grand Tribal Jirga in Peshawar on June 27 to discuss the prevailing situation in the country’s tribal areas.
Religious and political personalities from these areas will attend the huddle which Maulana Fazl will also address. The grand Jirga has been called in the wake of rising lawlessness in the tribal belt.
The JUI-F chief had yesterday strongly condemned the killing of Maulana Mirza Jan, the Khatib of Jamia Masjid Wana and District Amir of JUI-F South Waziristan, who had been shot and injured by unidentified assailants just two days before Eidal Adha while he was riding a motorcycle. Despite receiving medical treatment at CMH Peshawar, he succumbed to his injuries.
