Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s directive has led to the expansion of Lahore’s Free Wi-Fi service, aimed at enhancing digital connectivity across the city.
The Punjab Safe City Authority has doubled the number of active access points for “CM Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi” from 100 to 200, extending the service to additional areas in Lahore.
Residents can now access Free Wi-Fi services in areas including Manga Mandi, Multan Road, Bund Road, Chohang, Shahpur Kanjran, Sunder, Valencia, Maraka, and more.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasizes the importance of providing emergency Free Wi-Fi services as part of the Digital Punjab Vision. The initiative enables citizens to contact police and families during emergencies, utilize women safety apps, Punjab police apps, WhatsApp, and download various applications, including taxi booking services.
Notably, the “CM Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi” service is intended for utility purposes and excludes access to entertainment apps such as Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. Each Free Wi-Fi device in Lahore covers a range of up to 300 feet from its corresponding access point.
This expansion underscores the government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and fostering greater connectivity and convenience for Lahore’s residents.
