Sindh government has urgently requested the Federal Ministry of Water Resources to approve a PC-I costing Rs. 8,332.342 million for the restoration of the RBOD-1 and RBOD-III projects, which were severely damaged in the 2022 floods. Sindh Minister for Rehabilitation MakhdoomMahboobZaman highlighted this critical issue in a letter to Federal Minister for Water Resources, Musaddiq Malik.

He emphasized the need for immediate action to mitigate potential flood risks during the upcoming monsoon season. Minister Zaman stressed the urgency of resolving this issue and ensuring the timely restoration of the damaged projects. The letter mentioned that the Sindh Irrigation Department had reviewed the PC-I and sent it to the Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources on February 26, 2024.

However, the PC-I remains unapproved, causing significant concern. MakhdoomMahboobZaman also underscored the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s forecast of heavy rains this year, further pressing the need for prompt approval and action to prevent future flooding disasters.
