Intermittent rains likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Intermittent rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Thursday night and Friday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly prevails over upper parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, intermittent rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in the twin cities and at isolated places in upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday night and Friday. Hot and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country.

Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 39-41°C on Friday and 38-40°C on Saturday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 40-42°C on Friday and 39-41°C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry prevailed in the most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Extremely hot weather prevailed in the southern/central parts. Light rain/drizzle occurred at isolated places of Gilgit-Baltistan, Potohar region and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Bhakkar and Noorpur Thal remained the hottest places in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 49°C. The maximum temperature in Sibbi was recorded at 48°C, Jacobabad at 47°C, Mandi Bahauddin, Dadu, Gujranwala, Dera Ismail Khan, Hafizabad, Jhang, Jhelum, Okara and Narwal at 46°C.

In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 43°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 21 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 43°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 15 per cent.
