The Sindh Human Rights Department has reported a significant increase in human rights violation complaints in Karachi, including incidents such as child and women abductions, acid attacks on women, suicide, sexual assault, murder, and sexual assault on girls aged 3-8. This revelation emerged during a review meeting chaired by Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi. Secretary of the Human Rights Department Sindh, Tehsin Fatima, along with all deputy commissioners, SSPs, and senior officers of the HRD department, attended the meeting.

In response to the alarming surge in human rights violations, it was decided that the Human Rights Department would be provided with all possible information to effectively implement the government’s policy and efforts in protecting human rights in Karachi.

To address the escalating issue, three committees will be established in all seven districts of Karachi, each headed by Deputy Commissioners. These committees will work to provide information and coordinate on human rights issues.

Additionally, human rights complaint desks will be established in the offices of Deputy Commissioners to facilitate the reporting and handling of human rights-related grievances.

Moreover, a human rights WhatsApp group will be created to ensure immediate communication between Deputy Commissioners, police, and the human rights department, streamlining the process of addressing complaints and taking necessary actions.
