The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front has announced to set up a fund for the welfare of daily wagers.
PIAF Chairman Mian Nauman Kabir stated that the PIAF members have started donating generously, and by the grace of God, Rs. 3 million have been collected just in a single day.
The PIAF chairman initiated this noble task in consultation with the senior vice chairman Nasir Hameed and vice chairman Javed Iqbal to for the support of downtrodden people of our society in this time of emergency.
Mian Nauman Kabir said that the PIAF would continue to fulfill its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as it has the understanding that the government alone cannot cope with the mass devastation caused by the pandemic.
The chairman said that the PIAF has always played its role at all testing times and credit goes to its members who gave maximum for the help of the deprived.
He said that business community has to perform an extraordinary role as the situation has become too grave to be handled by the government alone.
“Presently this fund is launched for Lahore specific labourers. In the first phase, the PIAF team will distribute Ration of food items in all industrial estates and all major labour intensive markets, including Shahalam market, Anarkali, Akbari Mandi, Railway Station and Bhati Darbar etc.
He called for establishing more and more corona emergency funds to provide medical treatment to the people suffering from the virus besides improving overall health facilities and financially assist the daily wagers. This contribution will help the government to meet the growing expenditures of the coronavirus patients.
