The Pakistan Coast Guard in a major counter-narcotics operation, seized a large haul of hashish worth billions of Pakistani rupees during an operation near Jiwani, Gwadar district.
According to PCG spokesperson, acting on intelligence, Coast Guard personnel intercepted a vehicle in the General Area Kaldan Jiwani. A search uncovered 1176 kilograms of hashish concealed within the vehicle.
Authorities estimate the international market value of the seized drugs at USD 19.62 million, translating to approximately PKR 4.3 billion (as of June 5, 2024, based on representative exchange rates).
The Coast Guard has confiscated the vehicle and the drugs. Legal proceedings are underway. A spokesperson for the Pakistan Coast Guards affirmed their ongoing commitment to combating all forms of smuggling, underscoring their vital role in stabilizing the country’s economy.—INP
