Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan’s Ameer, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has strongly criticized the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for the deteriorating state of Karachi, vowing to advocate for the city’s issues across the nation. In a press conference at Idara Noor-e-Haq, he stated that both parties have ruled Karachi for the past 40 years, leading to its current plight.

Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman condemned the Sindh government and police for leaving the citizens at the mercy of criminals, noting that in the past five months alone, 78 citizens lost their lives in robbery incidents.

He highlighted the alarming statistic of 90,000 robbery incidents in a year, demanding accountability for the billions spent on the Safe City project. He also criticized the state of education and employment opportunities for Karachi’s youth, alongside the poor performance of K-Electric.

“The government and regulatory bodies like NEPRA have failed to take action against K-Electric’s load-shedding, overbilling, and corruption,” he stated. He vowed that Jamaat-e-Islami would mobilize, organize, and unite Karachi’s citizens, announcing a major movement post-Eid ul-Adha.

Addressing international relations, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman criticized the government’s stance towards India, Afghanistan, and China, stressing that disputes should be resolved through dialogue and that Pakistan cannot afford to make enemies out of its friends at the behest of the U.S. He also emphasized the need for transparency in foreign policy decisions and the importance of supporting projects like CPEC and the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline. In his press conference, attended by various party leaders and supporters, he urged for reforms in the police system, condemning the prevalent corruption and misuse of power. He highlighted the role of Jamaat-e-Islami and Al-Khidmat Foundation in disaster relief efforts, education, and other community services.

He concluded by expressing disappointment over Pakistan’s prolonged involvement in conflicts initiated by foreign interests, lamenting the immense economic and human losses incurred. He called for a focus on national interests and criticized past and present governments for their detrimental policies.
