The International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Inspection, Clearance, and Verification Mission (ICVM) team is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on June 3 for a comprehensive assessment of flight safety and maintenance standards. Confirmed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the audit will span from June 3 to 13, focusing on various aspects, including navigation services and security protocols at Jinnah International Airport Karachi and the CAA headquarters.
Pakistan’s aim is to secure ICAO’s approval to resume flights to Europe and the UK, following a ban since July 2021 due to safety concerns exacerbated by revelations of fake pilot licenses. In anticipation of this, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has initiated preparations for UK flight operations, seeking clearance for 22 weekly flights to the kingdom.
