Islamabad, Rawalpindi weather update; rains, gusty winds predicted

ISLAMABAD – Isolated rains and gusty/dust-raising winds are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Friday.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave persists over northern parts of the country.
Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in the twin cities and at isolated places Potohar region, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Friday.
Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 38-40°C on Friday and Saturday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 40-42°C on Friday and 39-41°C on Saturday.
Meanwhile, heatwaves prevailed in the country’s plains during the last 24 hours. However, light rain/drizzle occurred at isolated places of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Jacobabad remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 51°C. Maximum temperature in Lasbella was recorded at 50°C, Dadu, Sibbi, Turbat and Mohenjo-Daro at 49°C, Khairpur, Larkana and Bahawalnagar at 48°C, Hyderabad, Kasur, Rahimyar Khan, Sukkur, Bahawalpur, Bhakkar, Joharabad, Khanewal, Mandi Bahauddin, Okara, Padidan, Rohri and Noorpur Thal at 47°C.
In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 41 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 26 per cent.
