Sindh government has introduced a third-party system for issuing food licenses. This significant decision emerged from the 10th meeting of the Sindh Food Authority board, chaired by Provincial Minister for Food Jam Khan Shoro on Monday. The meeting saw the participation of Former Member of the Sindh Assembly GhanwarIsran, the Provincial Secretary of Food, the Director General of the Food Control Authority, as well as representatives from the business community, including restaurant owners and members of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce.

The Sindh Food Authority presented over 14 agenda items, with three approved by consensus and seven committees formed to address various issues.  Minister Jam Khan Shoro announced the establishment of a committee to streamline the food licensing process through a third-party system.

He emphasized that the goal is to enhance the efficiency of the food authority’s system and avoid unnecessary harassment of the business community. “Providing quality food to the public is our top priority, and we are working tirelessly to achieve this goal,” Shoro stated.  Director General Agha Fakhar highlighted the authority’s achievements, including imposing fines amounting to Rs 103,057 million from 2018 to 2023 and collecting fees of Rs 357,642 million from 2018 to 2024.
