KARACHI – Pakistan Navy advanced maritime security and patrolling in Indian Ocean by deploying Naval Warship PNS ASLAT, ISPR said.

Details shared by military’s media wing said PNS Aslat has been deployed to safeguard merchant vessels entering and departing Pakistani ports, equipped with dedicated helicopters.

The deployment of PNS Aslat aims to enhance the safety of international shipping. ISPR further mentioned that during its mission, PNS Aslat will engage in joint operations with allied and partner nations, in addition to its activities.

The missile frigate will also make port visits in the region as part of maritime diplomacy. ISPR said PNS Aslat is outfitted with advanced weapons and sensors, enabling it to address various threats and perform a broad spectrum of maritime operations.

PNS Aslat

PNS Aslat is naval warship of F-22P Zulfiquar class currently serving in the Pakistan Navy since its commission around a decade back.

The guided frigate was marked the completion of the Zulfiquar-class frigates project under a $750 million technology transfer agreement with Beijing. The ship is named after the Aslat – an Arab sword used during the Early Islamic era.

PNS Aslat was deployed in the Red Sea in response to attacks on international ships by Houthi Rebels from Yemen, a deployment that began in late 2023 following the Israel-Hamas war.
