PESHAWAR – The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa on Friday proposed 10 percent increase in both salaries and pensions of the government employees.

Provincial Finance Minister Aftab Alam presented Rs1754 billion annual budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, with a surplus of Rs 100 billion.

The budget, focusing on social protection, employment, and economic development, proposes a 10 percent increase in salaries and pensions for government employees, while the government proposed raising the minimum wage from Rs 32,000 to Rs 36,000.

KP government is expected to receive Rs1212 billion from federal government, with a total revenue target of Rs 93.5 billion through improved tax collection, avoiding tax hikes by enhancing the tax net.

This year, sales tax ratios on online services have been slashed, while tax rates for hotels have been adjusted, and wedding halls now face a fixed sales tax rate.
