A Wazir tribe grand Jirga was held in the name of peace in the Kari Kot area of Wana, Lower South Waziristan District, on Wednesday. On this occasion Former provincial assembly candidate Taj Wazir, who led the Peace Jirga, said that the main purpose of holding the Aman Jirga was to send a message to the world that we want peace, abhors unrest and desire education.
Other leaders participating in the Peace Jirga expressed fear that the peace in Wana would be disturbed once again. The Grand Jirga unanimously decided that we will not allow anyone to disturb the peace in Waziristan.
Jirga members said that it is the responsibility of the government to establish peace, the government should take concrete steps to establish peace in the region. Jirga participants said that if anyone tried to disturb the peace, they would be forced to start a strong protest.
Former provincial assembly candidate Taj Wazir added, a few days ago, unknown persons blew up the building of Under Construction Girls Academy, Wana with the help of private organization Wana Welfare Association. Wazir said this incident is not only regrettable but also a shame for the government.
