PESHAWAR – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted the prevailing heatwaves to persist in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during this week.
As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A high pressure has developed in the upper atmosphere which caused heatwave like conditions.
Under these weather conditions, heatwaves will likely persist in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday with 04 to 06°C above normal day temperatures. Heatwaves will intensify on Thursday and likely to persist till May 27.
Peshawar’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 39-41°C on Wednesday and 40-42°C on Thursday.
Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in Peshawar and parts of the province during the last 24 hours. However, rain-thunderstorm occurred at isolated places of the province.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 44°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 40 per cent.
