The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has postponed the intermediate exams 2024 in order to save students from sever heatwaves in coming days as the port city faces above-normal temperatures.

The exams were scheduled to commence from May 22 but now they have been postponed for five days in line with the directives of the Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

In a post, BIEK said, “Attention, All Students of Inter Part 1 and Part 2 exams 2024, the papers have been postponed till May 28”.

Why Were the Exams Postponed?

The decision to postponed the exams was taken after the Met office informed that due to the presence of high pressure in the upper atmosphere, heatwave conditions are likely to develop over most parts of the country, especially over Punjab and Sindh from 21st May and likely to convert to severe heatwave conditions from 23rd to 27th May.

Day temperatures are likely to remain 04 to 06°C above normal in Sindh and Punjab from 21st to 23rd and from 06 to 08°C from 23rd to 27th May.

Karachi Intermediate Exams 2024 to Start on This Day

The board has postponed the intermediate exams till May 27 and now the papers will start from May 28 in Karachi.

The postponement of exams has given more time to the students to prepare more for the papers.
