On the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police is conducting strict crackdown across the province in reference of Drug Free Punjab campaign, In the last 24 hours, police teams across the province, conducted 307 raids on the hideouts of drug dealers, 140 cases were registered and 144 accused were arrested. 54 kilograms of chatas, 290 grams of Ice and 1683 litres of alcohol were recovered from the possession of drug dealers.
Spokesman of Punjab Police said that 23910 raids have been conducted across the province in the special campaign since February 26, 11137 FIRs were registered against the accused involved in the drug trade, and 11860 accused were arrested. 7290 kilograms of charas, 120 kilograms of heroin, 250 kilograms of opium, 37 kilograms, 290 grams of Ice, and 142549 liters of alcohol were recovered from the possession of the accused. IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, while giving directions for speeding up intelligence-based targeted operations against drug dealers, said that those who poison the veins of the young generation with drugs do not deserve any concession, all the accused involved in the supply chain of this menace should be brought to justice and severely punished. Dr. Usman Anwar directed that more effective coordination should be ensured for joint operations with ANF, and action reports should be sent regularly to the Central Police Office.
Under the directions of IGP Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, crackdown has been intensified in the province to eradicate the scourge of drugs. During the last 24 hours, 313 hideouts of drug dealers were raided across the province including Lahore, 142 accused were arrested and 139 cases were registered.
