LAHORE – Rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Lahore and Punjab on Sunday evening/night, says the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Heatwaves will likely develop in Lahore and parts of Punjab with 04 to 06°C above normal day temperatures from May 21 to May 23. It will likely convert to a severe heatwave from May 23 and persist till May 27 with 06 to 08°C above normal day temperatures.
As per the synoptic situation, a shallow westerly wave prevails over the upper parts of Pakistan. It will likely persist during the next 24 hours.
Under the influence of these conditions, rain/thunderstorms are likely at isolated places in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Khushab, Mianwali, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore and Gujrat on Sunday evening/night. Hot and dry weather is likely elsewhere in the province.
On Monday and Tuesday, scorching weather with gusty winds/windstorms is likely in most districts of the province. However, rain/thunderstorms may occur at isolated places in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock and Jhelum during evening hours.
In Lahore, the maximum temperatures will likely stay between 42-44°C on Monday and 43-45°C on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of the province during the last 24 hours. Bahawalpur remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 45°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 50 per cent.
In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 44°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 35 per cent.
