Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) on Friday formed a three-member fact-finding committee to determine the reasons behind defeat of party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in NA -127 in the general elections.

“President of PPP Central Punjab Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has formed a three-member fact-finding committee to determine the reasons for Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s defeat in NA-127,” said s statement issued by the media cell of the party.

The committee includes Khan Asif Khan, ImtiazSafdarWarraich and RanaIkramRabbani. General Secretary of PPP Central Punjab Syed Hassan Murtaza stated that the committee members would decide on their own methods of ininvestigation.

Murtaza clarified that the fact-finding committee would present its report to the President of PPP Central Punjab by June 15.

PML-N by voting Arrow on the day of election. “The PML-N cannot win by buying votes or spreading fear among the people of Lahore,” he further had said. AttaullahTarar, the PML-N candidate, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the PPP chairman, had contested from the said constituency. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had accused each other of buying votes and taking oaths from the voters on their respective holy books including Holy Quran and Holy Bible in NA-127 in Lahore.

It had all started after PML-N candidate AttaullahTarar raided an election office of the PPP in NA-127 and made a video in which he said that the voters were being asked to take oath on the holy books to cast votes in the favour of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

“We recovered these holy books,” said Tarar in the video at a local police station while showing the books which he claimed were found from the PPP election office where he conducted a raid along with the police.

Tarar had also expressed concerns that the holy books were placed there in disgraceful manner, and presented three people whom he alleged were working for the PPP to take oath from the voters. “These three people have been arrested red-handed from there. All these three are present here and you can see. We are here at the police station. We went there along with cameras,” Tarar had said.

The PML-N candidate had said, “It will be quite disappointing if the Lahore police, administration and the Election Commission does not take any action,”. He had said they would not let this matter go away, saying that he also moved an application to the Election Commission of Pakistan, especially the election commissioner in this regard.

“This all is here before your eyes,” Tarar had said, pointing out that the evidence is all clear about how it all happened. “Bilawal Bhutto sb came here in Lahore to destroy the peace of Lahore. We will take this matter to the logical end,” he had said.

On other hand, the PPP termed Tarar’s action as terrorism and demanded the relevant authorities to take action against him.

“The Election Commission should take a strict action against this attack on our office and ensure it the way it did in Daska,” said Bilawal Bhutto while condemning the action of AttaullahTarar. The PPP chairman also demanded the police to register an FIR against all those who, he had said, conducted raid at the party’s election office in PP-160.

The PPP chairman had said that the people would give a befitting response to the PML-N by voting Arrow on the day of election. “The PML-N cannot win by buying votes or spreading fear among the people of Lahore,” he further had said. On other hand, a purported video had gone viral on social media which allegedly showed the similar act of buying votes and taking oaths from the voters ahead of the general elections. The reports had also emerged that different rates were set to buy votes from the voters on oath as somewhere the oaths were being taken against Rs2500 per vote.
