Sindh Minister for Local Government, Housing, Town Planning, and Public Health Engineering, SaeedGhani, hailed the Malir Expressway project as a significant development for the people. He announced that the expressway would be open to the public from August 14 in Quaidabad, with the entire route operational by June next year.
During his visit to Korangi Causeway and a tour of the Malir Expressway site on Wednesday, Ghani, accompanied by PPP Sindh’s General Secretary Syed Waqar Mehdi, Sindh Assembly member FarooqAwan, Korangi Town Chairman Muhammad Naeem Sheikh, and other officials, assessed the progress of ongoing work. Ghani reviewed the status of the Korangi Causeway project and sought details from concerned officers.
He was informed that work on the causeway was progressing swiftly but had been temporarily halted due to certain factors. However, it would resume in the coming days. The minister stressed the importance of completing the project not only within the stipulated time but also ensuring its inclusivity for both inner-city and outer-city commuters. He later inspected the Malir Expressway project, expressing satisfaction with the ongoing work. Ghani described the project as a flagship initiative of the Sindh government, starting from Quaidabad and extending to Super Highway, covering a distance of 39 kilometers.
He assured that work on the project was progressing rapidly, with instructions from the Chief Minister’s Office to open a portion of it up to Quaidabad by August 14, 2024, and the rest by June, next year. He expressed confidence that once completed, the project would greatly benefit the people of Karachi, reducing travel time significantly. He emphasized the government’s commitment to providing maximum facilities and initiating more projects for the city’s residents. Later, Ghani visited the District Central area to inspect the progress of various mega projects. Sindh Minister for Local Government, Housing, Town Planning, and Public Health Engineering, SaeedGhani directed project directors and officials to ensure that completed projects were opened for public use. Ghani also expressed concern over the slow pace of work on the Korangi Underpass and instructed authorities to expedite its completion to alleviate public inconvenience.
Additionally, the provincial minister issued directives for the prioritization of sewage and rainwater drain projects.
