The crackdown on illegal constructions has intensified, leading to the demolition of over 150 unauthorized structures across various districts of the city. Under the directives of Director General of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), Abdul RasheedSolangi, the enforcement campaign has been relentless. Additional floors, sections, and other unauthorized constructions, including breaches of land use regulations, have been targeted and razed as part of the ongoing operation. The Demolition Squad, acting on special instructions from the Director General, has been working tirelessly, conducting operations seven days a week without pause.
The crackdown has resulted in the demolition and legal action against numerous illegal constructions, reflecting the authorities’ commitment to upholding building regulations. Specific instances of enforcement include the demolition of structures like the front RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) structure on Plot No. 223 in B Area, and the RCC roof of PratisriManzil on Plot No. 7/2 in Sub-Block 1-E of Nazimabad area, among others. In the fight against unauthorized constructions, even marriage halls haven’t been spared, with booking offices, rooms, stages, and kitchen walls demolished. Additionally, the illegal construction of a second floor on Plot No. 17/54 in Farhan CHS, Block 03, was sealed.
The enforcement teams have been proactive, demolishing partition walls and RCC balconies at various locations, including Plot No. 1227 on MianMirza Adam Khan Road in Bakrapedi, Lyari, and Plot No. 09 in Saddar area. The operations have involved a coordinated effort, with Deputy and Assistant Directors, Demolition Officers, and a heavy contingent of local police, including the SBCA Police Force, ensuring law and order during the enforcement actions.
