IG Sindh, GhulamNabiMemon, conducted a comprehensive visit to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and reviewed ongoing operations against various crimes under the purview of CTD. Prior to this, the IG Sindh was received by the SSPs. During the visit, detailed briefings were provided to IG Sindh by the CTD on the department’s performance over the past four months and other pertinent matters. It was disclosed that from January 2024 to April 2024, a total of 763 intelligence-based operations were conducted, resulting in the registration of 87 cases.
Additionally, during this period, 10 high-profile terrorists were apprehended, and 11 terrorists were convicted under solid investigation proceedings. IG Sindh emphasized that the successful outcomes in combating crimes are a testament to the dedication and efforts of law enforcement personnel.
He further highlighted that while the CTD is making commendable progress in the fight against terrorism, there is a need for continuous improvement to ensure that operations and initiatives are aligned with contemporary requirements. IG Sindh also underscored the importance of curbing the illegal arms trade as a key strategy in eliminating crime.
He stressed the necessity for stringent measures at the provincial level to effectively control the illicit trade of arms, advocating for the enhancement of practical measures and enforcement of regulations. Furthermore, IG Sindh emphasized the importance of effective investigations and concrete prosecutions in delivering justice in terrorism-related cases.
