Islamabad, Rawalpindi weather update; more rains, gusty winds expected

ISLAMABAD – More rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Sunday evening/night.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over the upper parts of Pakistan. It will likely persist during the next 24 hours.

Under the influence of these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, northeastern Punjab, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Sunday evening/night. Windstorms/gusty winds are expected in plain areas.

On Monday and Tuesday, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in the twin cities and most parts of the country and extremely hot in the southern parts. However, rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas.

Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 35-37°C on Monday and Tuesday. Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 33-35°C on Monday and 35-37°C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thunderstorms occurred in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, upper/central Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and north Balochistan.

Punjab: Layyah 08, Islamabad (Saidpur 05), Hafizabad 05, Lahore (City 04, Jail Road, Pani Wala Talab, Lakshmi Chowk 03, Mughalpura, Gulberg, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Airport 01), Jhang 04, Joharabad 03, Gujrat, Sargodha 02, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Noor Pur Thal, Okara, Sheikhupura, Sialkot Airport 01

Balochistan: Zhob 05

Turbat remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 44°C.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 46 per cent. In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 34°C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 50 per cent.
