Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) officials, led by MehmoodButi circle SDO HabiburRehman, conducted a raid in the Santpura area on Wednesday, in collaboration with the police. The raid uncovered large-scale electricity theft from a 200 kVA transformer.
A spokesperson for Lahore Electric Supply Company revealed that a staggering 90% of the connections drawing power from the transformer were illegal. The accused were identified as using a method known as “hooking” to steal electricity directly from the supply line.
In response to the theft, Lahore Electric Supply Company authorities took decisive action. They removed the transformer to prevent further misuse and registered cases against 38 individuals involved in the crime. Additionally, four individuals were apprehended on the spot.
