Health Minister Dr. AzraFazalPechuho spearheads a crucial Provincial Task Force meeting addressing the Typhoid outbreak in Karachi and Hyderabad. The meeting, attended by key stakeholders, unveils plans for a Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) campaign, scheduled from May 13th to May 25th, 2024.

Expressing concern over the spike in XDR cases, particularly among children, Dr. Pechuho underscores the urgency of the campaign. Targeting 9.8 million children aged 9 months to 15 years, the initiative aims to curb the spread of Typhoid cases across all districts of Karachi Division and District Hyderabad. Preparedness efforts, led by PD EPI Sindh, emphasize collaboration with District Health Officers (DHOs) and District Emergency Operation Centers (DEOC) to ensure comprehensive microplanning, vaccination strategy, and compliance in schools.

Special security measures are advised for vaccination teams, with enhanced communication efforts to spread awareness on vaccine importance and health hygiene. The concerted efforts of all stakeholders are pivotal in combating the Typhoid crisis and safeguarding public health in Sindh.
