Mayor Karachi Barrister MurtazaWahab has announced plans to shift 60 buses of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to diesel fuel under a public-private partnership (PPP) mode. The decision to shift these buses to diesel was made in response to the ongoing CNG crisis, which affected the operation of CNG-powered buses.

One of the buses has already been successfully shifted to diesel fuel as a test case in Lahore, and it has now been brought back to Karachi. The mayor emphasized that the buses’ fares and routes have yet to be finalized, but details will be provided soon. A public-private partnership mechanism will be established to bring these buses back onto the roads.

Mayor Karachi BarristrMurtazaWahab stressed that the Sindh government is actively working to improve transportation facilities for the citizens of Karachi. In addition to the arrival of Red and Pink buses in the city, efforts are being made to make the existing buses functional to fulfill the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s responsibilities in providing transportation services.

The mayor assured that the buses will soon be operational on the roads of Karachi, highlighting the strategy to utilize available resources to enhance public services. He emphasized that these assets belong to the citizens and should be utilized for their benefit.

By reopening closed and defunct institutions and making vehicles, machinery, and equipment available to the public, Mayor Karachi expressed confidence that citizens will have access to better and quality facilities in the future.
