Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa weather update; more rain, hailstorm expected

PESHAWAR – More rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are expected in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday night and Tuesday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a strong westerly wave prevails over upper parts of Pakistan. It will likely persist during the next 24 to 36 hours.

Under these conditions, more rain-wind/thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are expected in Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Chitral, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Kohat, Kurram, Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Tank, Waziristan and Karak on Monday night and Tuesday. Heavy rainfall may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Dir, Swat, Chitral, Manshera, Kohistan and Kashmir. Landslides are also likely in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Windstorms/hailstorms and lightning may affect human lives, standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles and solar panels.

Peshawar’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 22-24 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 33-35 C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, rain-wind/thunderstorms occurred in Peshawar and parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 33 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 73 per cent.

In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 20 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 76 per cent.
