District Magistrate of Islamabad has banned gathering of more than ten persons “in the name of functions/weddings, etc even at farmhouses or private homes.”
In a tweet on Thursday, the deputy commissioner Hamza Shafqaat who is also district magistrate of Islamabad posted that the policy of social distancing has to be implemented in letter and spirit.
The strategy of “social distancing” as observed at public offices and private hotels and restaurants however, doesn’t apply to Panagah (Shelter Houses) set up by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for the hungry. In the Peshawar Mor G-9/4 business is as usual and two-time meal is being served for the poor and the hungry who arrive daily in good number.
They are not only being fed at these shelter houses but certain measures are also being taken to keep them safe from spread of coronavirus.
The Deputy Commissioner titling his post as “Love in the time of Corona” says in a tweet: “We are not closing our shelter homes as these people have no place to go . We are taking precautionary measures and providing masks, sanitizers etc to protect them from virus. Everyone is requested to come and distribute protective equipment here.”
Meanwhile, in the wake of COVID-19 emergency, the district administration of Rawalpindi has directed all the hotels, motels, restaurants and shopping malls to remain closed for an indefinite period.
A notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi on Wednesday says, “In the wake of Corona Virus Emergency all the hotels, motels, restaurants, rest houses and tourist spots in Tehsil Murree District Rawalpindi will be closed forthwith till further orders in public interest.”
