Former Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Punjab Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad has congratulated Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani on his election as Chairman Senate of Pakistan, unopposed.
He termed it success of democracy. He said that Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani had run a historical struggle for restoration of democracy and rule of law, adding that even he faced imprisonment for the noble cause of democracy.
Kanwar expressed views in a meeting with Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani in pleasant environment on Wednesday. He said that chairman Senate would tackle all the challenges facing the nation in an effective manner. It is hoped that under the guidance of Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, the Senate would continue to function as a platform for a constructive dialogue and debate in accordance with the democratic principles. His experience in public service would certainly prove useful for the development of Pakistan.
Kanwar said that senate of Pakistan is completed under Article 59 of the Constitution of country. Pakistan is now moving forward in a new democratic era, he added.
