Climate change biggest challenge, measures being taken to deal with it: Governor

Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman has said that climate change is the biggest challenge faced by the planet earth and the provincial well aware of the situation is taking measures on an emergency basis to deal with it.

This was stated by him by him while addressing the opening session of the International Climate Change Conference organized by a private university in Sialkot on Wednesday.

Muhammad Balighur Rehman said that due to climate change, Pakistan was among the top ten countries most affected by the unexpected increase in temperature, melting of glaciers and deforestation. He said that due to climate change, agriculture sector is suffering which would have adverse effect on economy.

He underlined the need to adopt modern technology in agriculture sector. Governor Punjab said that fully fit vehicles should be allowed to ply on the roads and along with this, modern technology should be adopted in new vehicles.

Muhammad Balighur Rehman also planted a sapling in the university lawn on the occasion and prayed for the development and stability of the country. He appreciated the efforts of the university administration for holding an international conference on the important issue.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujahid Kamran, Chairman Board of Governors Muhammad Islam also addressed the event. A large number of delegates including Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Zulqarnain and teachers were present in the ceremony.
