LAHORE – In an unfortunate incident, the roof of surgical ward at Aziz Bhattti Shaheed Hospital resulted in the loss of lives of two patients while over dozen people suffered injuries on Wednesday.

The deceased person were identified as Azmat Bibi and a minor boy.

Several patients were also trapped under the rubble after the roof caved. Rescue officials managed to extract them and transferred them to hospital’s ground.

Patients and their attendants accused hospital administration of negligence. Clips aired in local media shows patients screaming and crying for help after the harrowing incident.

Heavy machinery, including cranes and bulldozers, was deployed to clear the debris cautiously, mindful of the delicate task of extricating survivors trapped beneath.

The scene of devastation was a powerful reminder of fragile infrastructure in government owned buildings.
