ISLAMABAD – Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS), a mobile phone registration services in Pakistan, will not be available till April 21.

DIRBS is a system designed to identify non-compliant mobile phones operating on local mobile networks.

It automatically registers compliant devices operating on the mobile networks and eventually blocks non-compliant devices.

DIRBS objective is to ensure a healthy growth of mobile device ecosystem in Pakistan. It ensure use of legal devices on the mobile networks. The import, use, and growth of legal devices will improve the quality of mobile service to consumers, preserve network resources of the mobile operators, provide better security and ensure the protection of intellectual property rights.

All overseas Pakistanis or foreign nations who enter Pakistan are required to get their devices registered using the DIRBS. In case of non-registration, the devices are blocked.

The PTA in a latest “maintenance alert” said Mobile Device Registration and Verification Services are under maintenance till Sunday, April 21, 06:00 am. “Inconvenience is regretted please”.
