ISLAMABAD – Chief of Turkish General Staff, General Metin Gurak was conferred upon Nishan-i-Imtiaz military for his efforts toward strengthening Pak-Turkiye defence relations.
President Asif Zardari conferred prestigious award on Chief of Turkish General Staff, General Metin Gurak at special investiture ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. Services chiefs and parliamentarians attended the event.
General Gurak was commended for his intelligence and outstanding administrative skills, which have earned him a reputation as a courageous and highly competent officer.
The distinguished officer has been instrumental in establishing peace and stability in Turkiye. Throughout his distinguished military career, General Gurak has held various significant positions, including Commander of the 2nd Armored Brigade, Chief of Communication Department of TGS, Commander of Military Academy, Commander of Army Aviation School, Commander of the 4th Corps, Commander of Land Forces TRADOC, Communications Services Support Training, Chief of Staff of Land Forces Command, and Deputy Chief of Turkish General Staff.
He was promoted to Lieutenant General in 2015 and further promoted to General in 2020. General Gurak served as the 2nd Army Commander before assuming the role of Chief of Turkish General Staff in August 2023.
