KARACHI – Five foreign nationals on Friday narrowly escaped a targeted suicide blast in Pakistani port city of Karachi, said police officials.
The foreign nationals, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, were travelling in a vehicle when a suicide bomber detonated himself in Mansehra Colongy of Landhi area of the city. Two security guards and one passerby were injured in the incident while all the foreign nationals have been shifted to a safe place.
Police said that two terrorists involved in the attack were killed, adding that hand grenades and Kalashnikov were recovered from the possession.
SSP Malir Tariq Mastoi confirmed it to media that it was a suicide attack.
Following the attack, the injured were shifted to a hospital where two are said to be in critical condition.
Meanwhile, international media reported that the foreign nationals were Japanese national, who remained safe in the attack.
The attack comes weeks after five Chinese nationals were killed in an attack on a vehicle in Bisham area of Shangla in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
