Lahore, Punjab weather update; widespread rains, isolated hailstorms expected

LAHORE – Widespread rains with isolated hailstorms are expected in Lahore and most parts of Punjab on Thursday evening/night, Friday and Saturday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a strong westerly wave prevails over most parts of Pakistan. It will likely grip upper parts of the country on Friday.

Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are expected in Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar on Thursday evening/night, Friday and Saturday. Windstorm/hailstorm and lightning may damage standing crops, loose structures like electric poles and solar panels during the period.

Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 30-32 degrees Celsius on Friday and 32-34 C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of province during the last 24 hours. However, Murree received 03 mm rain, Islamabad (Airport 03, Syedpur 01), Sargodha 02mm, Sialkot (Airport, City), Jhelum, Hafizabad and Attock 01mm.

Sargodha remained the hottest place in the country where maximum temperature was recorded at 36 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 60 per cent.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 34 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 47 per cent.
