ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appointed Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as Leader of the House in the Senate.
Dar, who is the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, will act as leader of the House to represent alliance government and will regulate business in the upper house of the parliament.
On Tuesday, Mr Dar acted as the presiding officer during the Senate session in which 41 senators sworn in as members of the House.
PPP’s Yousuf Raza Gilani was elected uncontested as the Senate chairman, while PML-N’s Sardar Syedal Khan Nasir became the deputy chairman.
The premier felicitated them, emphasizing democratic process. He also urged them to contribute to the Constitution’s advancement and Pakistan’s development. PM Sharif hoped for their active role in legislation for public welfare and national progress.
