SSGC’s relentless efforts against gas theft persist with ongoing anti-gas theft operations throughout its franchise areas in Sindh and Balochistan. Recent raids conducted by SSGC’s Customer Relations Department (CRD) uncovered multiple instances of illegal gas connections and theft using rubber pipes.
In Yousuf Sahib Khan Goth, Ghareeb Nawaz Colony, and MaymarHijri, approximately 150 houses were found to be illegally supplied with gas through rubber pipes, resulting in an estimated theft volume of 144,000 cm per year, equivalent to Rs. 4,500,000. Similar illegal connections were discovered in Quetta Town, Karachi, where 42 residents were benefiting from stolen gas via rubber pipes, amounting to a theft volume of 40,320 cm per year Rs. 1,260,000.
In Karachi’s Nazimabad, blocks 3 to 5, and another Karachi area, approximately 65 and 50 houses respectively were found to be illegally connected to gas supplies through rubber pipes, resulting in theft volumes of 62,400 cm per year Rs. 1,950,000 and 48,000 cm per year Rs. 1,500,000 respectively. Additionally, illegal gas connections were dismantled in Chapel Garden .Apartments in Karachi’s Central Zone, where 20 residents were benefiting from stolen gas, totaling approximately 19,200 cm per year Rs. 60,000.
In the Hyderabad region, raids were conducted in response to complaints of low gas pressure and theft in areas including village Karan Khan Shoro and Qasimabad. Six underground theft clamps were discovered on a feeder main supplying gas to 6 houses, while similar theft clamps were found supplying gas to 7 houses in Sukkur.
