ISLAMABAD– The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) got the forensic report regarding the white color powder discovered in enigmatic letters dispatched to judges of high courts and the Supreme Court, the sources close to the development said on Friday.

“The letters contained a white powder mixed with arsenic. They further said that the powder was composed of 10% arsenic,” said the sources.

They pointed out the potentially grave consequences of higher concentrations of the substance, which could pose severe harm to the human body and adversely affect the nervous system if inhaled.

The investigators, the sources said, secured CCTV footage from cameras situated near the letterboxes at the sub-divisional post office in Satellite Town, Rawalpindi.

They said that assistance from the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) is being utilized to identify the individuals captured in the footage.

A sense of fear spread as the letters were received by at least four Supreme Court judges, eight from the Islamabad High Court, and six from the Lahore High Court.

The CTD initiated two FIRs against unidentified individuals and commenced an investigation into the matter.
