SFA imposes heavy fines, discards expired items

The Sindh Food Authority (SFA) took action in the East district, imposing fines totaling more than three and a half lac rupees on Bab e Sweets and Red Apple outlets. The operation, supervised by Director General Agha FakharHussain and supported by Director Operations RafiqMemon and Deputy Director East ArjeelMemon, aimed to ensure food safety and hygiene standards, particularly ahead of Sehri during Ramadan. The SFA team fined Bab e Sweets Rs. 250,000 and Red Apple branches Rs. 120,000 for poor sanitation conditions. Expired food items discovered at Red Apple were promptly discarded on-site.

Additionally, the SFA team inspected chicken meat sellers’ shops, where expired chicken meat was found and discarded immediately. Several shops received improvement notices for not meeting hygiene standards. Director General Agha FakharHussain emphasized that the SFA remains unwavering in its commitment to upholding hygiene principles. He reiterated that strict action would be taken against violators of SFA’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring the safety and well-being of consumers.
