A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the University of Okara (UO) and Noor International University (NIU) to develop collaboration in market-oriented applied research that, according to the representatives of the two varsities, would solve many of the complex scientific problems.

The MoU was inked between the UO’s Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Wajid, and the NIU’s Dean Faculty of Life Science, Prof DrTahirZahoor, at the VC secretariat. DrSairaSattar and DrSabiha Abbas from Department of Food Sciences & Technology and Dr Faisal Nisar from Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics were also present at the eve.

Explaining various key clauses of the agreement, Prof Wajid and Prof Zahoor told that their main focus would be to help the faculty of the two institutions to develop joint research projects for Higher Education Commission (HEC) and other funding agencies. They further revealed that the UO and NIU would jointly organize seminars, conferences and workshops on different pressing scientific issues of the contemporary world.

Under the pact, a range of opportunities like internships, placements, study tours and industrial placements will be provided to the students of both sides. DrZahoor told that his faculty would help the UO students of Biosciences and Life Sciences in developing solution-based research projects that could help their employments. He vowed to establish and enrich strong linkage between academia, research and industry through that MoU.

At the end of the signing ceremony, Prof Wajid extended thanks to the Vice Chancellor, Prof DrJavaidAkhtar, for encouraging the academic collaborations at the UO. Both DrWajid and DrZahoor presented each other shields and souvenirs of their respective institutions.
