CDA, ICCI sign MoU for upgrading public washrooms

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and ICCI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday for the upgrade and maintenance of public washrooms located in various markets across the capital city.

The agreement was singed by President ICCI Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari and Mashooq Ali Shah, Director of Sanitation CDA, said a press release issued here.

Under this MoU, male and female public toilets established in different commercial centers of Islamabad will be handed over to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce so that the families coming for the purpose of shopping do not have to face any kind of problem.

It should be noted that under this MoU, the administration of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce will be responsible for the construction and repair of all these public toilets, workers’ salaries, sanitation and other arrangements. While the land of toilets will remain the property of CDA. Similarly, the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce will use the said toilets only for public welfare and will never be allowed to use this land for any other purpose, otherwise the MoU can be canceled at any time.

On this occasion, the Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) directed the concerned departments to regularly visit these public toilets and also keep a detailed review of the facilities provided to the public in order to ensure the provision of the best facilities to the citizens.

On this occasion, the business community hailed the agreement between CDA and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and expressed their determination that this agreement will not only promote the economy but also provide a good environment to the consumers.
